Folder Redirection for SalesPartner-Cloud

30/6/2016

Understand how folder redirection works for SalesPartner in Azure-RemoteApp and RDP environments.
In this example, we are running SalesPartner as a RemoteApp.
I want to import photos from my Downloads folder but when I open Explorer > Downloads, my folder is empty. Yet when I open Downloads normally I can see my files. So why don't they show in SalesPartner?
Picture
Explanation: SalesPartner is physically running on a separate computer in a datacenter. Even though you don't see the remote computer's desktop, apps and folder system they do in fact exist.

How do I find my folders?

To find folders on your local PC, open This PC in the Remote Explorer window.
Picture
Your PC's drives will show under Devices and drives. You'll see your Computer Name next to each drive. Tip: to check your PC name, press Windows+Pause/Break or open Control Panel > System.
My PC in this example has two redirected drives: the hard drive C:\ and D:\ a USB drive.
To get to my local Downloads folder from here I need to open: C > Users > Geoff > Downloads.

Tips and Shortcuts

If the files you want to import are on your USB drive, it will be faster to find them because typically the folder hierarchy is less complex.
Another approach is to open your two explorer windows (remote & local) then Copy and Paste your files from your local Explorer into Remote.
  1. In Listing Entry > Media tab, click the folder button to open the listing's media folder in Explorer.
  2. Open Explorer on your PC - press Windows+E and find your photo files.
  3. Select your files (Ctrl+A) and copy them (Ctrl+C).
  4. Right click and Paste your clipboard into the RemoteApp media folder.
Picture
The progress screen will appear as the photos are uploaded into the RemoteApp environment. The upload speed will depend on:
  • Your network speed,
  • Photo sizes,
  • and the number of files to be transferred.

Once the files have finished copying, click Refresh.

Tip: Look for the RemoteApp charm on your Taskbar icons when you are working with multiple windows.

Troubleshooting Azure-RemoteApp Launch errors

30/6/2016

This Private Directory error occurred when an incorrect password was entered for OfficePartner on launch. To troubleshoot this error we signed out and restarted RemoteApp.
Picture
Next, we opened Cmd and launched Explorer to verify that the network share script was connecting the mapped network drive on launch. In this case, the mapped network drive had disconnected so we ran: logoff in cmd to end the RemoteApp session.
Picture
Picture
The application then launched correctly and re-mapped the network shared folder.

Updated: Reconnect mapped drives from the Azure RemoteApp console.

If you are not able to open SalesPartner, use Connect R:\ Drive to remap the network shared folder.

I can't see SalesPartner but it is running

Sometimes you may launch SalesPartner and see the icon in your Taskbar, but the application does not appear. This can happen from time to time, especially when you connect external monitors. SalesPartner remembers it's screen position for future sessions. So if you close SalesPartner on a second screen - it will open in the same position for your next session.
Picture
Here's how to fix it:
First press Windows+D to show the Desktop.
Click on the SalesPartner icon in the Taskbar, and press Alt+Spacebar together.
You'll notice a dialog popup on your desktop. Click Move
Picture
Now tap the Arrow keys on your keyboard (try to guess where the app was last, if it was on a extra right hand side monitor, tap the left-arrow key).
Picture
You should see a frame outline like this. Once you've moved the frame into your current screen, left click or press enter to drop the frame in place. SalesPartner should now appear normally.

High performance Gallery Settings

30/6/2016

If your office has more than one hundred current listings, it can delay SalesPartner launch times, and cause latency when loading the Gallery, searching and filtering. You can speed up your SalesPartner Gallery by adjusting your INI settings*.
Open SalesPartner > More > Settings > INI Settings > Gallery tab
In the Images panel, the options are listed in order of performance, fastest to slowest.
Picture
  • Don't check - Under this setting, the gallery runs fast even when your Gallery contains thousands of records. If you use filtering and searching daily against a large workload, this setting is ideal.
  • Check for first - Only slightly less fast, this option adds a 1 into the photos column so you can determine by sight which listings have photo(s) and which listings do not.
  • Give Number of Photo - Shows the full number of photos for each listing.
  • Give Number of Photos and map - Default, shows both the number and the 'm' for map if present, in the photo column.
Tip: No matter which option you use, you can still enable the photo filter to quickly find listings that do not have photos. Click on the Camera button to filter only listings with photos.
Picture
In this example, 'Don't Check' is enabled so a dash appears in the photo column.
Open Other Selections you can filter listings without photos.

Hide Gallery columns you don't need

To hide and show Gallery columns including the Photo column, open the column options menu and tick / uncheck your columns.
Picture
To display the number of photos and maps, calculations are run on launch and during application use. As the database and SalesPartner image files folder (Pics1) grows in size, calculations take longer to complete.
*Introduced in version 11.0.0.25 - released in July 2016

Open Azure-RemoteApp
Click Get Started
Picture
Enter your credentials to sign in
Picture
Once you have successfully signed into Azure RemoteApp, your applications will show in the console.
Double click an app icon to launch the program.
Picture
Note: Please do not attempt to access OfficePartner unless you are authorized to do so. OfficePartner is password protected. Failed attempts to log into OfficePartner may result in you being temporarily restricted from using Azure RemoteApp.
When you launch SalesPartner, the RemoteApp connection broker window will appear. The connection normally takes around 10-20 seconds to be established.
Picture
SalesPartner will look almost identical to your locally installed (previous) copy.
Notice the unique Taskbar icons which display the RemoteApp charm.

For administration workers who use both SalesPartner and OfficePartner, these applications can be run simultaneously.

Important

Azure RemoteApp is billed per user on an hourly basis. To avoid exceeding your monthly quota of hours, close out of SalesPartner and/or OfficePartner when appropriate, for example: during meal breaks and at the end of your shift.
